In the Parthenon temple as well as the Acropolis museum.<\/p>

The Parthenon is a temple that was built in honor of the goddess Athena, patroness of the city of Athens in the 5th century BC. It is made of Pentelic marble in the Doric style. On the eastern pediment, above the entrance, the birth of Athena was depicted. On the western pediment, the one that was visible from the Propylaia, the battle between the goddess Athena and Poseidon is depicted over which god will become the protector of the city.<\/p>

Athena offered the olive tree and Poseidon caused sea water to gush from the rock. Men and gods decided that Athena had given the best gift and so she became the patron goddess of the city.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

In the new Acropolis museum, which was inaugurated in 2009 and has exhibition spaces with an area of 14,000 sq.m. Today it offers all the services required of a world museum of the 21st century.<\/p>\n

On the top level of the museum is the Parthenon hall where the original sculptures are combined with casts of the sculptures found in museums abroad.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

At the Hellenic Parliament and the monument to the Unknown Soldier where the changing of the Presidential guard takes place. The building that houses the Parliament of the Greeks was originally the Palace of King Otto.<\/p>\n

It was converted a century after its construction into the Parliament and Senate Building. Today it is the Greek Parliament, a timeless symbol of Greek democracy.<\/p>\n

In the Panathenaic Stadium, the oldest marble stadium where the first Olympic Games were held in 1896 after a 1,500-year pause.<\/p>\n

In the Olympic games held in Greece in 2004, the stadium hosted the archery competitions as well as the finish of the Marathon.<\/p>\n

In the Temple of Olympian Zeus and the columns of Hadrian, which was the largest temple in Ancient Greece. The construction of the temple began in 515 BC and was completed in 129 AD.<\/p>\n

It was created from Pentelic marble and was 96 meters long at its ends and 40 meters on the east and west facades. It had 104 Corinthian style columns and was dedicated to the god Zeus.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

Last stop at Lycabettus hill for a panoramic view of Athens.<\/p>\n

The hill is 277 meters high and at the top is the church of Saint Georgios. From there you can enjoy the most beautiful view of the city up to Piraeus and the Saronic Gulf.<\/p>\n
