TOURS WITHIN ATHENS

DAY TOUR

In the Parthenon temple as well as the Acropolis museum.

The Parthenon is a temple that was built in honor of the goddess Athena, patroness of the city of Athens in the 5th century BC. It is made of Pentelic marble in the Doric style. On the eastern pediment, above the entrance, the birth of Athena was depicted. On the western pediment, the one that was visible from the Propylaia, the battle between the goddess Athena and Poseidon is depicted over which god will become the protector of the city.

Athena offered the olive tree and Poseidon caused sea water to gush from the rock. Men and gods decided that Athena had given the best gift and so she became the patron goddess of the city.
